LIBRARY SECTIONS AND SERVICES

Circulation Section

The Circulation Section supports the instructional and research programs of the University.  It consists of the general collection of the library dealing with different branches of knowledge such as books on Humanities, Social Sciences, Languages, Pure Sciences, Management, Marketing, Literature, History and other allied subjects, and fiction books for leisure reading.  Located in the 3rd  Floor of Academic building.

Special Collection Section

Materials in this section are library materials separated from the general collection because they are of a certain form, on a certain topic/subject, of a particular period or geographical area, rare, fragile or valuable. The collection consists of rare books and other types of Filipiniana materials.  They usually do not fall into any of the conventional categories like books and serials.  They may be rare, unique, out-of-print, unpublished and non-textual.  Most of its collection are for ROOM USE ONLY.  Such as undergraduate theses, feasibility studies, action research, compilation reports, etc. Located at room 306 of Academic building.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH

Graduate School Library

The Graduate School Library of the Taguig City University houses the collection of print and electronic resources useful to graduate students and faculty of the university. A collection of master’s theses is also found in this section. Books can be borrowed for one week while the theses which are considered reference books are for ROOM USE ONLY. Located at room 305 of Academic building.

Technical Services Section

This unit is responsible in the selection and acquisition, cataloging and classification, organization and management of library resources such as books, serials, multimedia materials, and on-line databases received whether through purchase, gifts or donation or through exchange programs. Its functions are distributed into its five sections, namely: a) Selection and acquisition, b) deselection or weeding of books, c) cataloguing and classification, d) donations, and e) preservation and conservation. Located in the 2nd floor of Academic building.

TCU LIBRARY GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The TCU ID is required and should be worn while inside the TCU premises.
  2. Valuables like calculator, wallet, cell phones, laptops and tablets shall not be left unattended inside the reading area/baggage counter. The Library shall not be responsible for the loss of any valuable.
  3. Whenever requested by any library staff on duty, a user may be required to show his/her belongings at the Counter Desk for security purposes.
  4. Visitors and outside researchers shall be required to register in the logbook at the Circulation Counter.
  5. Outside researchers with referral letter from their Librarian may avail of library services every from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, except during examination period.
  6. Mutilation and defacing of a book or any other library resources, vandalism, and damaging of any library property are considered as major offense based on 2012 TCU Student Manual under Part I, Article II, Section 2.1.12.
  7. Loud conversations, and laughter, smoking, eating, playing games, littering, loitering, getting phone calls, and display of public intimacy shall be strictly prohibited inside the library premises.
  8. Offenses related to person(s) in the TCU Library such as but not limited to: Threatens to physically assault/injure or actual physical assault/injury committed against any member or visitors of the TCU Library; Defamation, abusive behavior, or gross discourtesy committed against any member of the TCU Library or his authorized representative; Hazing or the infliction of any physical mental harm or ordeal, which act injures, degrades, or disgraces or that tends to injure, degrade, or disgrace any fellow student or member of the TCU Library; Engaging in lewd, obscene or immoral conduct within library premises and its vicinity; are considered as major offense based on 2012 TCU Student Manual Part I, Article II, Section 2.1.4.
  9. Students and faculty members who shall be in need of materials not found at the TCU Library shall be referred to other libraries. A referral letter shall be issued upon request from the Office of the Chief Librarian.
  10. Public services shall cease 15 minutes before the indicated closing time to enable the staff members to put the library in order for the next day’s work.
  11. Violations of the Rules of Conduct shall be reported to the Student Affairs Office for proper disposition and recording.
  12. Should you need any help, do not hesitate to approach the Library personnel on-duty.
